Last Minute Gift Ideas

“It’s the gift that keeps on giving Clark.” – Cousin Eddie

Here are some of my easy, last-minute holiday gift ideas.

Netflix Streaming Subscription
This is perhaps one of the greatest deals around right now. It’s only $7.99/month for this service. You can give someone the gift of binge watching great TV shows like Friday Night Lights, Louie, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, New Girl, Lost, Parenthood, Mad Men, House of Cards and more.

They have comedy specials from some of my favorite comedians such as Louis CK, Aziz Ansari and Kevin Hart.

Also included are documentaries like the terrific 30-for-30 series from ESPN. And I haven’t even mentioned all of the movie choices.

You have the option of buying someone else a subscription for 1 ($7.99), 2 ($15.98), 3 ($23.97), 6 ($47.94) or 12 months ($95.88).

Here’s the link to buy a Netflix subscription for someone else: Netflix

Google Chromecast
As a follow-on gift to the Netflix subscription, the Google Chromecast allows you to stream your wifi devices straight to your TV to view your movies and videos on your flat screen. Simply plug it into an HDMI port and link up to your wifi connection.

You can now watch Netflix, YouTube, HBO Go, Hulu Plus and more from your iPhone, iPad, laptop or Android device. I just got one this week and it’s a pretty cool little piece of technology that only costs $35.

You can find it at Amazon: Google Chromecast

StubHub Tickets
Instead of buying someone a gift card or a boring sweater you can give the gift of an experience. StubHub offers tickets to music concerts, comedy shows, sporting events or even theater tickets.

This is a great way to give someone a night out on the town.  You could even buy tickets for yourself as well and take them with you.

You can use the upcoming tab on StubHub’s website to see which shows are available within the next 3, 7 or 30 days.

Some last minute shows offer discounted tickets if you know that the person you are buying for is flexible on time. Premium shows for hard to find tickets are also available. StubHub has an easy to use smartphone app as well.

Amazon Wish List
If you are really struggling to come up with ideas, Amazon has a page that shows their most wished for products. You can search through music, movies, toys, books, electronics and more to see what everyone else is hoping for this Christmas. This works as a great idea generator.

The Human Fund
And if you have that person on your list that has everything, make a donation in their name to the human fund, a la George Costanza:

Happy shopping.
